The concept of human flourishing has emerged through continuous research into questions that have accompanied humans and their societies throughout their evolution and history. Multiple authors have sought meaning to questions such as: How does one live well? Is living well or well-being an idea that was created or taught? Is it felt or intuited? Is it practiced or improved through training? Are there necessary conditions for happiness? Are these conditions the same for everyone, passed through indoctrination or taught through example?
These varied questions gradually gave rise to the concept of human flourishing, which developed not only to provide a definition for happiness but also to study and establish samplings, statistics, and quantitative studies to ensure the positive development of individuals and society. This makes the study of human flourishing multidisciplinary and multidirectional.
