The B.S. in Food Engineering program aims to train internationally competent professionals, that know how to apply and integrate science and technology to solve the problems of the food industry, that design food and beverages-with an emphasis in healthy products-, that develop, optimize and manage sustainable process and and safety systems for conservation and transformation of food, and that respect and that they respect and apply the norms and guidelines related to the food industry. The graduates of this program are characterized by their entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, by their leadership and by their ethical behavior.
Competencies
Develop foods that will contribute to the treatment and prevention of chronic-degenerative diseases and obesity, respecting consumers’ culture and the regulations in effect.
Assess the efficiency of food preservation and transformation processes based on the principles of sustainability.
Evaluate the safety of food preservation and transformation processes, in accordance with current national and international standards.
Design foods for an individual according to dietary restrictions or needs related to special requirements or genetic factors.
